don't go to trader joe's hungry.

this is not something that any of us didn't already know. it applies to any kind of grocery shopping, right? and with the lovely array of snacks available at target, it works there too. i've come home with all sorts of yummy treats from target once or several hundred times. shocking, i know.

but there are times when it just can't be helped. the bean had her first level 2 class of gymboree on tuesday (and it was really fun, much more active than the first level), and when we gymboree, that means we've got fun places like target, trader joe's, petco, and party city within walking distance. like, they're all just across the parking lot! and i wanted to check out some of the items in the current trader joe's fearless flyer.

of course, it'd been such a busy morning that i hadn't had time to have a thing to eat, and now it was past noon. eek. my poor tummy was growling and gurgling, but we were right there! so i strapped the bean into place and in we went.

$50 later, we walked out with stuff like egg white salad with smoked salmon and capers, a tri-tip wrap, spinach dip, ice cream cookie sandwiches, and the most fabulous box of 4 frozen chocolate croissants. they're so cool - you take the frozen, unbaked dough out of the container and set it on a cookie sheet to "proof", or rise, overnight. after you ooh and aah over how it's puffed up to twice its original size, you pop it into the oven and 20 minutes later, you have a buttery, flaky, oh-so-yummy chocolate-filled croissant. i pulled two out last night, thinking it'd make a nice breakfast for me and the hub with a nice big glass of butt ass (that was for you, willikat!) cold milk.

well, he got up and left for work earlier than i expected. what's a girl to do?

yeah, i just ate 'em both. :X

  2. I've been debating whether or not to try those things. Can't ever go wrong with chocolate and flaky pastry!

  3. I LOVE Trader Joe's. I just discovered their pancake mix. It's so good. Especially since my Ralphs banned Bisquik because of all the trans fat. I missed pancakes and biscuits too. Also, have you had their new Vanilla Wafers? AMAZING.

  4. I just spent $16 at Whole Foods for a late lunch so I completely understand how you feel.

And now I must stop by Trader Joe's to pick up some of these yummy treats that you speak of.

  6. I love Trader's. They just have so much damn good stuff. It's always dangerous for me too.

If you and the hub are into lamb chops, they have the most delicious frozen lamb chops that just need to be defrosted and put on the grill. Delicious!

  7. you should have traded the pastry for services.

or fed it to me. i see those every time and use my super duper willpower not to buy them. if i did, i'd eat them all at once.

the egg white salads are pretty yummy.

  10. I kid you not, the last time I was at TJs I picked up those croissants multiple time before putting them back and thinking - man I wish I was into chocolate!

And if the spinach dip you picked up is the frozen stuff then good choice! We always have that in the freezer.

My last treats from TJs: mini peanut butter chocolate cups (HEAVEN-and as I said, I'm not all about the chocolate) and enough dried fruit to feed a small country (figs, apricots, raisins, bananas and even something called rambutan which I have NO idea what it is, but its pink so I'm sure its good)

  11. Is it weird that one of my actual plans for when I'm in CA for a month is to shop at TJ's as much as possible? I'm actively excited about the grocery store...but then again, this isn't just any grocery store!
