run bean run!

when we got home from the expo, i had to scurry to get my stuff packed.  plus, i still needed to make my shirt that went with my costume for the run.  luckily, i'd already printed my design onto iron-on transfer paper and all i had to do was fire up the ol' rowenta to get 'er done.

and back:

i had decor for my shoes, too, along with matching ribbon to tie my timing chip on.

the hub and i had plans to go out to a birthday dinner for one of his good friends, and while we were sitting there chatting away i spied a head of familiar-looking hair sitting at the table just across from us.  i tried to scope it out without being totally obvious about it, and when the guy sitting next to her sat back i figured it out:  it was bonnie raitt.  i snapped this picture while pretending to take a picture of the hub (who rolled his eyes and teased me mercilessly), and it's terrible but you can just make her out if you squint at it just right.

of course, i ended up with "something to talk about" stuck firmly in my head for the rest of the night.

i managed to get to bed somewhere around 10:30, and got a decent night's sleep despite the hacking cough that still hasn't left me.  ugh.  the hotel provided a shuttle to the start of the race, but since i'd found out about it pretty late, all that was left was a 4:30 pick-up time.  yeah.  4:30 in the morning.  with the start time at 6, i'd been hoping to be able to sleep till that time, but it wasn't to be.  so i dragged my ass up at 4am and got myself ready.  i was pretty pleased with my costume when all was said and done.

yeah, that's a bottle of cough syrup on the counter.  yum.  i took a dose at the very last possible minute, hoping it would last me until i was all done huffing and puffing up the hill at the end of the course.

right around the time i was hitting the 10-mile marker, the teen and the bean were checking in for the bean's 1/2-mile fun run at the city walk.

i really wished i'd have been there, but that's okay.  she seems to have fared pretty well without me.  and the teen did a great job of getting her ready and trotting alongside for the duration.

the bean was really proud of herself for earning that medal.

how awesome is that pose?  seriously, i crack up every time i look at it.  she does this every time anyone takes a picture of her.

and i just don't know where she got that from.  do you?  heh.

  1. I loved your outfit. I saw this and thought of you perhaps you could file it away and make it someday.
