can't quit hello kitty completely

over the weekend, i finally tried the hello kitty fried rice seasoning packets i bought at marukai ages and ages ago. look, how cute (yes, as usual, my photos suck ass)!

it was yummy, although the final result was not exciting enough to photograph. just looked like...well, rice. heh.

the hub's been under the weather for the last couple of days, poor baby. and he wasn't much in the mood for dinner last night. so with the teen not particularly hungry and the bean willing to eat pretty much anything i put in front of her at the moment, i decided to make something i haven't had in years: grilled peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.

that's right.

you take this:

stick it with some of this:

smear a bit of this on the outside:

toss it on the griddle for a few minutes on each side, and you end up with this lovely, warm, decadent gooeyness:

it's basically a grilled cheese sandwich, only with PB&J instead. i could just use toasted bread, but it's not the same. and to complete my random, utterly ridiculous meal, i added some...TOTS!

i was one happy camper. i gave the bean pieces of sandwich, a few tots, a couple of baked chicken nuggets, a piece of string cheese, some snapeas, and a cup of milk, and we went to town. the teen had a plate just like mine, and we all munched happily together.

oh, i have another quickie video to share. the bean as the mini talking bag lady:

i've decided that my newest materialistic desire is this thing. of course, i can't decide which one i like best:

the only videos i have are the shitty ones i've shot with the ancient point-and-shoot. of course, we all know that even with primo equipment, i suck at the whole photography thing, but i like to think that having good products to play with helps at least a little.

right?

  1. BroMo's agent gave him a flip, which he brought to a Dodger game once. It's pretty cool. I think you'd get a lot of use out of it.

  2. I have a small hand-held HD camcorder (similar to the flip but a different brand) and I would just recommend getting image stabilization. If not everything is bumpy and it kinda stinks.

They are a ton of fun though and it's nice having a purse sized camcorder!

  3. You should post more videos! They're hilarious. I dig the one on the top left, just because it's the most subtle :) I also like the classic HK one. Please buy me one while you're at it.

  4. Tell the hubs I send him my "get well soon" vibes. I was laid up last week with sickness - something flu like. Bleh!

  5. We love our Flip! You can get one as low as $49! http://www.babygoodbuys.com/2009/06/flip-video-camera-now-4999.html

I think I'm going to upgrade ours to the HD version for Father's Day. :)

  6. The hub got a Flip from a client last Christmas. It's so much fun!!! And so easy to upload. I highly recommend it.

  7. i used a flip back in beta days when visiting a friend who has a hookup, and it was cool even then. it was a lot smaller (memory-wise) and didn't have HD available but still a lot o' fun and better than a point and shoot camera.

  8. I have the Flip but so far, have only used it during some training thing I had. Maybe I'll actually bust it out and use it more.

Also, your dinner is genius. In fact, it sounds perfect for tonight. :-D
