my girl is so freaking grown-up

i've been trying to talk the teen into going for a haircut for a long ass time now. and because she's hell-bent upon letting her hair get really long, she's resisted. i keep trying to tell her that regular trims to get rid of the split ends is the best way to keep it looking healthy and purty, but she can be pretty stinking stubborn when she's got her mind set on something. oy.
then finally, last week, she texted me out of the blue and asked me to make her a hair appointment for a trim. seems that, like other folks i won't name, she has to think she came up with the idea all on her own. [sigh] so, like the dutiful mom, i called and got her in with my favorite stylist.
look at how adorable she is! i love the new 'do.

i'd accepted a mystery shopping assignment for the local boot barn, and i dragged the girls to keep me company since the guidelines for the job stated that i had to stretch the visit out for at least 20 minutes. i hadn't noticed this when i signed up for it, and since most of my shops are generally quickie in-and-out jobs, i probably would've passed it up had i known.

the bean thought it was an...interesting place.

i ended up falling in love with a pair of boots. these are shitty pictures, but they're SO freaking cute on. i wanted them so much. i still do. but they're rather pricey, and i can't justify it right now. sadly for me, they've been discontinued, so i'm SOL. so bummed.

we wrapped up our afternoon with a stop at donut man. look at the sheer size of this chocolate bar - it's as big as a freaking piece of letter-sized paper!

mmmm. love donuts a lot.

  1. Oh, and if those are the boots that are competing with the Flip, heaven help us if you don't choose the Flip.

  4. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I LOVE those boots. I got mine 4 years ago from Boot Barn and they've only got better.

  7. I have the same problem with my husband. I can't tell you how many conversations we've had that start "Mitch says" and then continue with the exact thought I'd been trying to convince him of for weeks.
