pretty, pretty mammoth

i find that when i let too much time go by before i recap stuff, i get lazy. here's last weekend's mammoth trip, in pictures.

yummy.

hanging out at the condo. the bean's playing with some of the stickers i gave her out of my lucky magazine (i managed to get through a huge stack of old magazines, yay!).

the bestest name for a trivia game EVER.

the fabulous village. not. most of the retail space was vacant, although there was a starbucks, a rocky mountain chocolate factory, and some small boutiques.

the bean started out wearing her new paul frank hat, but managed to lose it (without any of us seeing it fly out) within minutes. thankfully, we found it pinned down onto a table with a rock. thank you, good samaritan!

we spent saturday evening watching the locals hit on tourists here. i couldn't stop laughing at the name of the place.

mother nature did good up in mammoth.

manzanar.

the condo was really nice - fairly new, with three bedrooms plus a loft. i thought it was funny that there was a playpen set up in the master bedroom closet - almost a mini nursery, but i would never leave the bean to sleep in a freaking closet.

bear! actually, one evening, brother wan went out the front door for some fresh air, turned around, and found himself face-to-face with an 8-foot tall bear, standing up on his hind legs. yikes.

we're debating going back up around christmastime - maybe the teen and i can take some snowboarding lessons. whee!

  1. We bought my FIL Fact of Crap and somehow we ended up with it. He is the biggest BS'er we've ever met so we thought it was a fitting gift. I can't wait to play it.

  2. I find it amusing that you expressed your sentiments re catching up in one sentence, whereas I babbled on for paragraphs.

  4. i've never been to mammoth in the summer. looks pretty. oh, and take private/semiprivate lessons if you can. it's worth the extra dough.

why don't they just call it BS?

i don't know if i'm down with the non-human kind of bears.

  7. how beautiful. i've never been to mammoth at all, but we're talking about a trip this snow season. i've already warned jim that i'm bringing a stack of books and i'll kick it in the ski lodge while they all snowboard and then i'll cook in the evenings. what can i say, i'm so not a snow bunny ;)
