whee!-kend

i'm excited for the weekend!

being a SAHM usually means that my days tend to run together, and the only way i can tell what day it is is by what's on tv. or if the hub's home. heh.

i just dropped the kid off at school after serving up a nice, healthy breakfast. yes, folks, i tried one more recipe from the DD cookbook - scrambled eggs. yup, there's a way to sneak veggies into innocent-looking eggs. you dress it up with some parmesan, a little sour cream, bulk it up with an extra egg white, and the kicker: pureed cauliflower. it totally blends in, you can't see it, and when you toss a handful of shredded cheddar on top and serve it with some bacon, it's all goooood.

until you serve it to the kid.

she took a bite, sniffed the plate, and said "mom, did you put broccoli in here??"

and i'm an asshole, because i smiled a secret smile and said "well, is it green? broccoli would turn it green. i didn't put any broccoli in there. is it good?"

she says "yeah, it's good, but it smells like broccoli."

heh. she ate almost every bite and then sat back holding her stomach.

"i ate too much, mom."

and i really should've 'fessed up and told her, but then i thought, what if she never eats my eggs again? damn. i feel guilty now. maybe i'll call her after school.

or not. she'll have forgotten all about it by then.

so it's going to be a fun weekend! today the bean and i have gymboree class. and then i'm going to meet up with some of my SFAMs for dim sum tomorrow morning, and not only am i looking forward to some delicious eats, but it'll be nice to see my friends. friends and food. life doesn't get much better than that.

tomorrow, we have reservations at 6:30 for that anniversary dinner with the folks and the sibs at lawry's!

i already made a card and had the kid sign it before she left for school today (and her dad's for the week, boo). plus, we still have to exchange holiday gifts with the sibs. my sister was traveling over christmas, and my brother's just been crazy busy with school and work, so this is the first opportunity we've had to get together and catch up. it'll be a nice dinner, i'm thinking.

plus, we've got the ILs coming to our house to watch the bean while we're gone. as i mentioned before, lawry's ain't the kind of place that we want to sashay in with a stroller. so she'll get some quality time with her grandparents, and they're thrilled to have some one-on-one time with her.

not to mention, molly LOVES the ILs. poor thing, she's definitely suffered from a lack of her usual attention since the birth of the bean, and when the ILs come over, they always give her lots and lots of love. i've really got to make more of an effort to show the dog more affection. but the bean seems to think she's pretty cool:

these two are going to be great friends in the future, i'm thinking.

on sunday, there's a blog party that i'd really like to attend. i'm just not sure if i'm going to be able to pull it off, considering i'll have already taken off for dim sum the day before. the hub's a great dad - really patient, very loving, and he loves having time with the bean. but i hesitate about taking advantage. it sounds weird, considering the fact that he's her father, but i just always feel funny not being around to help take care of her. hmmm. the blog party sounds hella fun. hmmmmmmm.

and then the hub has monday off for MLK day! whee! i wonder what he's got in mind. i hope it's something fun.

  2. You MUST come to the blogparty. I promise I'll be sober enough to actually hold a conversation this time.

  3. It looks like Bean is sucker punching Molly.

Come to brunch. Bring the Bean if you have to. You can sit next to me and I'll help man the munchkin if she starts getting out of control. I guess you'll have to get official permission from the host to bring Bean, but I'm offering my help. :)
